Join Learning Forward BC with Cari Wilson and Alex Bleim from West Vancouver Schools online:

The theme of this session will cover:

  • Making teaching easier

  • Practical ideas and suggestions for using AI in the classroom.

  • Support the myriad of student demands that face educators daily.

With a focus on:

  1. AI use in education in general-some ideas about how to use it and pitfalls to avoid!

            Tools that can support teachers and used by a teacher to help differentiate learning.

  1. What we need to teach students about using AI

Tools that students can use and how teachers can work with students to implement and oversee the use of Al.

 Cari Wilson

Cari  currently works in the West Vancouver School District where she is the District Vice Principal of Innovation and Technology and an instructor in the Mechatronics Robotics Academy. With a master’s degree in educational technology, Cari has over 20 years of experience in the classroom, much of that in a 1:1 or BYOD environment. Cari is a 2023 recipient of the Prime Minister’s Award for Teaching Excellence, an Apple Distinguished Educator, and a Google for Education Certified Trainer. Cari has spent many hours learning about AI and its potential educational applications and implications.

Alex Bleim

Alex is a Gr 4/5 classroom teacher with West Vancouver School District. As an educator, she is committed to her work in diversity, equity and inclusion and recognizes the importance of accommodating and celebrating diverse learners. Alex is currently completing her Masters in Indigenous Education focusing on Indigenous pedagogy and the connections between Universal Design of Learning and decolonization practices. Alex has a special interest in AI tools and how they can ethically support individual student needs and teacher workload.
