Meet Katie Marren and her student team

Katie Marren and the SD 57 District Student Advisory Council's work together is an example of how to move from student voice to student agency.  They began with meeting and talking about student concerns and have now moved to taking action and making change based on these concerns.  The students saw inequity and racism within the district and decided to create, from start to finish, an anti-racism learning series for teachers (and others) to use as learning in classrooms and community.  The students will describe why the work is important, how they were supported and why it is needed for adults to sometimes step out of the way and allow students to guide the learning
